The Lawyers in the Library program is a free information and referral program. In a one-on-one appointment, lawyers can answer questions on most legal topics. If someone needs legal help, the lawyer refers them to a support agency.

Due to limited availability, we can only make one appointment every 30 days per person or family.

The program is co-sponsored by the Alameda County Bar Association, Legal Access Alameda.

As of July 2023, this program is being done by phone. The lawyer will call you at your appointment time. The lawyer will call from a blocked or private number, so be sure your line can accept them.

We are only able to offer appointments in English at the moment. One solution is to find a friend or family member who can translate for you. If that is not an option, we suggest the Community Legal Assistance Saturday Program (CLASP) (Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese).
